In our workshops we specialise in creating bespoke natural stonework, from concept and design to manufacture and installation.
We combine the best traditional stonemasonry skills and expert carving with cutting edge technology and innovative engineering to create the best solutions for our clients.
The stoneworks
Traditional Techniques
Bankershop – Our stonemasons at Chichester are amongst some of the most accomplished masons in the country and are all apprentice-trained, time-served craftspeople sharing skills that have been passed down through the generations. Between them they have a vast experience of all types of stonework and masonry production, from the technically challenging contemporary cantilevered staircase to the sympathetic melding of ‘new to ancient ‘stonework in conservation and restoration stonemasonry.

Traditional Techniques
Carving Studio – The carving team at Chichester have produced some of the finest and nationally acclaimed carving and sculpture in stone. They create exacting facsimiles for restoration and conservation and work alongside clients, recreating their commissions or designing and sculpting unique individual pieces.
Changes in technology have guaranteed accuracy and consistency like never before and we’ve witnessed huge advances that have improved our processes. However, despite these advances, the traditional craftsmanship, skill and care of hand-working stone remains relevant and as important today as it has ever been.

modern technology
Our facilities in Chichester are equipped with gantry cranes, primary, secondary and CNC profiling saws and stone turning lathes capable of producing the smallest and largest pieces of masonry production. We carefully balance the advantages of modern automated machinery with the best traditional skills to ensure that all the masonry production is optimised for quality and efficiency.

Drawing Office
We produce both 2D and 3D drawings for our projects, incorporating the full and detailed jointing and geometry for production, assembly and fitting.
For projects of any complexity we create 3D drawings and images. By digitally scanning stonework, we are able to create 3D facsimiles, accurate to less than 1mm. These files are used to programme and drive our CNC router prior to hand finishing.
Traditional drawings by our draughtsman generate 2D drawings, stone schedules, moulds and templates for production.
